Manchester Ohio

Manchester is a very small Ohio River town once known for the manufacture of buttons made from local shellfish. Manchester was established in 1791 making it the third oldest European settlement in Ohio. The population of Manchester has never exceeded it's current total of 2,023 by much and has been hovering around 2,000 since 1900. Many of Manchester's historic buildings have been lost over the years due to fire, flood or neglect. This has left the town with many gaps in it's historic core especially in the residential areas. Manchester still has some very nice 19th century commercial buildings in it's empty seeming downtown.
