Edenton is a beautiful, small, historic, waterfront town on the Albemarle sound. It's well worth visiting if you're in the area. As I was driving southwest out of Edenton in spring 2012, I discovered this unused dock and marine junk pile off the side of highway 17 on the northeast side of the bridge. I'm guessing this had been some sort of repair facility for fishing boats. Immediately next to this site was a new condominium development. It looked like this dock and the piles of old boat parts that surrounded it were in the process of being cleaned up to make way for more condos. I'm not sure though. It might still be there. In either case on the opposite side of 17 (northwest) there is a nice little boat launch and parking area with a good view of the sound and river. It was a great place to watch the sunset.
