Ballarat California
Ballarat California
Ballarat California supplied mines in the Panamint range from the late 1800s to early 1900s. At it's peak Ballarat had a population of 400 to 500. Ballarat was used as a set for the movie Easy Rider and the Manson family's last hide out was in the Panamint range directly above Ballarat. Today it has two residents who run a general store. The town is used as supply hub and camp by 4 wheel drive off-road type people. There are a few interesting ruins. The Panamint valley in general is an interesting place.
