Littleton North Carolina
Littleton is a very small town (population 692) in an interesting section of Northeastern North Carolina. Roanoke Rapids, Soul City, Norlina and Warrenton are close-by towns that are worth checking out if you like small old towns with interesting histories. Littleton was home to Littleton College from 1882 until it burned down in 1919. The commercial district of Littleton is much larger that one would expect a town of less than 700 to have. There was a railroad that passed through Littleton but the tracks were torn up many years ago. Several warehouses and small industrial buildings had been built along the former rail line a block north of Main street. Some of those are still standing but many have been demolished.
