Bellemont North Carolina

Bellemont is a very small town on the banks of Alamance Creek a few miles south of Burlington. The town and mill ruins are on the NRHP as the Bellemont Mill Village Historic District. The mill ruins were completely open and no effort was being made to preserve them when I visited in 2008. The mill was a water powered cotton mill and along with the village was built in 1878. Many of the mill houses in town are occupied and in decent shape.
My friend Damon Lapas visited the Bellemont mill in 2013. All of the black and white photos on this page are from that visit. The color photos at the bottom of this page are mine from a visit in 2008. Damon uses vintage film cameras. The photos here were shot with a Leica M3.
